Google Glass, a thing of the past?

Today I read an article about the declining interest of Google Glass. Google Glass, a wearable heads up device was widely praised following its launch in February 2013. Consumers were excited to get their hands on this new gadget, but many were steered away by the price tag of $1,200. Even though consumers were steered away, many developers were not, until this week.

Because of Google's reluctancy to release Google Glass to consumers, many developers are halting their development of apps for Google Glass, seeing as they have no market to sell their apps to. Did Google prematurely cause the death of their own product?

I think that Google did. Although Google received praise for such a revolutionary, new device; they also received a lot of complaints saying that Google Glass isn't very "pretty" or "fashionable", which contributed to a lack of consumer interest. If Google had released a cheap, consumer version of Glass earlier, I think a lot of people would've bought one just to own the cutting edge of technology, and if anything, a cool new gadget. But now that Google's been holding out on releasing Glass, showing an internal uncertainty about the future of the product. This coupled with the dwindling consumer support, and rapidly declining developer support leads me to believe that, Google might have accidentally killed its own product.
