CIA Torture: Supported by Politicians, Against Foreigners, a Breach of Human Rights

Recently I saw the report about the CIA's torture techniques. I was surprised to find that some Americans, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, supported the torture techniques. Former Vice President Cheney was even quoted saying, "I would do it again in a minute," (in regards to supporting the CIA's torture techniques).

I found it interesting, however, that these techniques were only used against foreigners who the CIA suspected of having ties or information relating to Al Qaeda or various other terrorist organizations. Recently it was uncovered that the CIA tortured a German citizen, even though it was found that he had no information about Al Qaeda. It seems that the CIA had tortured him for the sake of torturing him. They had no reason to continue the torture, after finding out that they had captured the wrong person, oops.

It is important to note that none of the people who were reportedly tortured by the CIA were Americans. And the torture of these foreigners were kept swept under the rug by the Bush Administration. Now, however, after the reports have been released many human rights activists and the UN have praised this report as a way to hold people accountable for these atrocities.
