America: The World's Police, But Do People Like The Police?

It seems America is always policing around the world and getting involved in its affairs. In recent times it's been the question of Syrian independence, but more recently it's been dealing with ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria). ISIS is an extremist group attempting to control much of the Middle East, and ultimately the world.

ISIS is large threat in the Middle East as it employs social media and psychological warfare to beat its opponents, posting many videos of beheadings or executions online.

This, of course, would not go unnoticed by the US, and President Obama has ordered air strikes on the terrorist group to stop their advance on innocent civilian cities and villages. Although most of the Western world sees this act by America as a valiant one, to stop the killing of innocent civilians. Those people, closer to the fighting, aren't so sure of America's intentions.

According to an article by the New York Times, Iraqis fear that the CIA is in fact helping ISIS. Iraqis fear that the US is using ISIS as an excuse to get American troops back on the ground in Iraq. President Obama has stated that he doesn't plan on putting American troops back into Iraq, but few are convinced. The Shiite militias and leaders have stated that they will no only fight ISIS, but also any American troops.

I don't think that the US should get involved with these kinds of events. It is clear that the Iraqis want to fight ISIS without help from the US, and they should be allowed to. Just like in 1776 when the US decided to fight Great Britain for independence, no one tried to stop us. So in matters concerning other country's independence, for example, Syria. I think that the US should not get involved.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the US is too concerned with the matters of other nations?

I agree with your position on the fight against ISIS. They should be allowed to lead in the fight while the U.S might provide financial support as France did in the American Revolution.
