Global Warming, Finally Real?

Yesterday, I read an article that stated that the Senate passed an amendment to the Keystone XL Pipeline legislation that affirmed climate change is real and not a hoax. It passed 98/1. Even though Congress is known for not being the most open-minded concerning matters of science.

I think that this is progress being made in Congress, and more specifically, the Republican Party, to accept newer scientific ideas. It is interesting to note, however, that in June of 2013, 65% of the Republicans in the Senate did not believe in Global Warming (thinkprogress.org). Going from 30 opposed to 1 opposed in almost 2 years, is not bad, but it's slow progress.

Personally, I think that Republicans and Congress in general, should be more open minded to new ideas presented by scientists, especially those ideas that are prove and backed by multiple scientists (like climate change).

What do you think? Is the government taking a step in the right direction?
